‘Ease of Schooling’ Revolution: You’re about to experience significant convenience in paying your children’s school fees. The government is changing the fee payment process in schools across the country. According to reports, the Ministry of Education is taking a major step under the “Ease of Schooling” vision, issuing new guidelines to make school fee payments completely digital. This initiative aims to bring transparency to fee payments, provide convenience to parents, and modernise the education system.
This government move will not only provide significant convenience to parents but also ensure a transparent fee payment system. The government is soon introducing a digital payment system.

Digital Payments Will Change the System
The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, has issued a letter to all states, CBSE, NCERT, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Samiti, and state boards, directing them to transition the entire fee payment process to digital mode.
Payments will be made available through UPI, mobile wallets, net banking, debit/credit cards, and PoS machines. The ministry has clarified that a digital system should be adopted instead of a cash-based system to ensure transparency and accountability in school financial transactions.
Objective of ‘Ease of Schooling’?
The ‘Ease of Schooling’ initiative aims not only to simplify fee payments, but also to simplify and digitalise the entire school admission and education process. The Ministry states that this initiative will strengthen the education system and promote digital transformation in line with the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Both parents and schools will benefit.
With the digital fee payment system, parents will no longer need to visit schools frequently. They will be able to make payments from their mobile phones or computers while sitting at home.
- Parents will receive fee receipts instantly online.
- Fee collection and tracking will be easier for schools.
- State education departments will also benefit from real-time monitoring.
Experts say this will reduce fee irregularities, late fee disputes, and complaints. Many private schools are already seeing positive results by adopting digital payments.

Student’s Unique ID Will Be the Primary Identification
- Under the new system, the student’s Unique ID (APAAR ID – Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) will be used as the primary identification for fee payments.
- This ID will serve as a permanent academic identification for the student at every stage, from admission to examination.
- The Ministry of Education has clearly stated that all institutions, whether government, government-aided, or private, should adopt digital payments as much as possible.
- PoS machines are being installed in government schools to ensure hassle-free fee payments. This will not only provide convenience to parents but will also eliminate the problem of fake receipts and cash handling.
