CTET Exam 2026 Guidelines – Dress Code, Prohibited Items and Gate Closing Rules

CTET Exam 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) today, February 7th, at various examination centres across the country. Millions of candidates are appearing for this exam. The CTET exam will be conducted in two shifts. Paper-2 will be held in the morning shift and Paper-1 in the afternoon shift. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the Central Teacher Eligibility Test on February 7th and 8th, 2026, in more than 140 cities across the country. Candidates may be denied entry to the examination centre if they do not follow the examination rules.

Admit Card Issued
CBSE released the CTET admit cards on February 5th, 2026. Candidates are advised to carefully check the exam date, shift, and time on their admit cards. The board has clarified that no candidate will be allowed entry after the reporting time.

The exam will be conducted in two shifts:

First Shift: 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Second Shift: 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM

The admit card is the most important document on the day of the exam. Along with the admit card, carry a government-issued photo ID. Candidates are also advised to carefully read the instructions given on the admit card.

When will the CTET result be released?
The CTET provisional answer key is usually released within 10-15 days of the exam. Candidates will then have 2-3 days to raise objections to the answer key. The CTET result is likely to be released in the first or second week of March 2026.

General Category: 60% (90 marks)

Reserved Categories (OBC/SC/ST): 55% (82 marks)

Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

Total Questions: 150 (MCQs) | Total Marks: 150

Time: 2.5 hours (for each paper)

Negative Marking: There is no negative marking in CTET. 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer.

Language: The exam is conducted in 20 languages.
