CNG Price Hikes to Rs 98.47 per Kg, New Rate Effective Today

CNG Price Hike: Major setback for people. As Diwali draws near, Ahmedabad’s drivers and residents are feeling the squeeze from rising costs. Adani Gas has unexpectedly increased compressed natural gas (CNG) prices by Rs 4.45 per kilogram. With the festive season in full swing and people gearing up for shopping and travel, this price jump is hitting hard—especially for auto-rickshaw drivers and daily wage earners who depend on affordable fuel.

CNG Price Hike

Adani Gas previously raised prices by Rs 4 per kg back in August 2026, pushing CNG to Rs 94.20 per kilogram. Now, following another Rs 4.45 increase, Ahmedabad’s CNG price has climbed to Rs 98.47 per kilogram.

Frustration Among Auto-Rickshaw Drivers

The continuous climb in gas prices has sparked considerable frustration and discontent, particularly among rickshaw pullers. These drivers point out that while fuel costs keep climbing sharply, the Transport Commissioner hasn’t approved matching fare increases. In the past, rickshaw drivers have staged strikes to push back against fare restrictions and ride-sharing apps. This latest price hike during the Diwali season has thrown many rickshaw pullers’ and everyday drivers’ household finances into chaos.

What’s Behind the Sudden Price Increase?

When asked about the CNG price hike, an ATGL spokesperson explained that rising natural gas procurement expenses made the increase necessary. The company pointed to limited domestic gas supplies, reduced availability, and climbing global gas prices driven by international tensions as key factors.

The spokesperson shared, “Even with these obstacles, ATGL is working hard to reduce the burden on customers. The company is also guaranteeing steady CNG availability, which remains an affordable and eco-friendly fuel choice.”
