SBI Alert – Never Share OTP, ATM PIN, UPI PIN or Passwords, Check Details

SBI Latest News 2026: If you are an SBI account holder, please take note of this information regarding banking safety. Following a recent cyber incident, SBI has shared important guidance. With the significant rise in the use of online banking and digital payments, cybercriminals are increasingly targeting customers through calls, messages, and emails.

SBI has issued an advisory to raise awareness among its customers. If you receive any security-related message purportedly from the bank, read it carefully to ensure your personal information remains secure. In light of the recent cyber incident, please verify any such communication by checking the bank’s official website before treating it as an authentic message from SBI.

Details of the Incident
According to reports, SBI disclosed that it leaked some personal customer information in October. An initial investigation by the bank revealed that out of approximately 375,000 records examined, about 3,897 contained personal customer data—including names, dates of birth, mobile numbers, addresses, and email addresses. The bank has confirmed that customer funds remain secure and that this incident has not disrupted banking operations.

Advice for SBI Customers
SBI has advised its customers never to share their OTP, ATM PIN, UPI PIN, or internet banking passwords with anyone. Such information can allow someone to withdraw funds from your account.

Furthermore, if you receive a message via WhatsApp, SMS, or email, please verify its authenticity before trusting it. These messages often claim that your account is closing, require an eKYC update, or promise a reward. Avoid clicking on any suspicious or unknown links. Additionally, the bank advises customers to regularly monitor their bank account transactions. If any unfamiliar transaction appears in your transaction history, you can report the details by visiting the bank’s official website.

Furthermore, if you discover that an attempt is being made to commit fraud on your account, you should contact the bank—using the contact information provided on its official website, rather than relying on details from an unknown number. You can also immediately lodge a complaint by calling the 1930 helpline.
