Ration Card Update: The government has issued an important directive for ration card holders. All cardholders must complete the e-KYC process for their ration cards by January 15th. Failure to complete this process by the deadline may result in the automatic cancellation of the ration card. Furthermore, consumers will also be excluded from the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

Why is e-KYC for Ration Cards Necessary?

The government states that only those ration cards with completed e-KYC are considered valid on the Ayushman Bharat scheme website. Cardholders who have not yet completed e-KYC are being removed from the eligibility list. This will directly impact access to free medical treatment and other government benefits.

Steps to Crack Down on Ineligible Beneficiaries

The e-KYC process for ration cards has been made mandatory to prevent misuse of government schemes. This will ensure that benefits are received only by those who are truly entitled to them. This is why the government is now strictly enforcing this process.

e-KYC Status in Dehradun District

A large number of ration cardholders in Dehradun district have already completed the e-KYC process. According to the data, approximately 80 percent of cardholders have completed e-KYC, while the process is still pending for about 20 percent of consumers. The January 15th deadline has been set, keeping these consumers in mind.

Risk of Ration Card Cancellation

The government has made it clear that ration cards without completed e-KYC will be automatically cancelled after the specified date. In addition, such consumers will also be deprived of the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Since a valid ration card is a key document for inclusion in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, its validity is crucial.

How Many Ration Cards are in the District?

In Dehradun district, a total of approximately 3.75 lakh ration cards have been issued under the National Food Security Act, Antyodaya Yojana, and the State Food Scheme. The number of units associated with these cards is approximately 15 lakh. District Supply Officer K.K. Agarwal stated that consumers who do not complete e-KYC by the deadline will be ineligible for the schemes.

Appeal to Consumers

The district administration has appealed to all ration cardholders to complete their e-KYC within the stipulated time frame. Doing so will not only allow them to retain their ration card benefits but also make them eligible for health benefits under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
