Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has revealed plans for a new superfast train connecting Bengaluru and Mumbai, expected to launch by the end of June. This train will traverse central Karnataka, linking key cities such as Tumkur, Davangere, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Belagavi. It will simplify travel for students, professionals, and all passengers who often find long flights or slow trains exhausting. Minister Joshi shared this announcement via his Twitter account, stating that the train will commence next month, traveling through Tumkur, Davanagere, Haveri, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Belagavi.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav confirmed that the Bengaluru-Mumbai superfast train is set to launch by the end of June, providing access to the bustling commercial hub of Mumbai through central Karnataka. This new service is anticipated to benefit countless individuals traveling this route and also stimulate the trade and business sectors.

Joshi mentioned that the Railway Minister has agreed to his proposal to convert the existing superfast train into a Vande Bharat Sleeper Service in the future. This semi-high-speed train will not only offer the utmost comfort for passengers on long journeys but will also transform the experience of night travel.
Designed by BEML in Bengaluru with technology from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, this new orange and grey train will operate between KSR Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai. It will be the second Vande Bharat Sleeper Train in the nation.
According to officials, work on the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train prototype is progressing at a rapid pace, but trials by June 2026 are unlikely and could be delayed until next year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the country’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train between Kamakhya and Howrah on January 17th. There’s been much speculation about the launch of other Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains, but the Railway Ministry has yet to make any clear announcements.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in a written statement in the Lok Sabha on February 4 that the manufacturing program for Vande Bharat sleeper coaches is being completed in a phased manner through prototype development, trials, and series production by BEML, ICF, and technology partners. He said that these trainsets will be inducted into regular passenger service in a phased manner, based on demand and operational readiness. A total of 260 rakes of Vande Bharat sleeper trainsets are planned to be manufactured.
