The Aadhaar App has released a new app that allows users to initiate an update of their Aadhaar linked mobile number on their phone.
Previously, when updating a mobile number linked to an Aadhaar ID, users had to travel to a registered centre, sometimes waiting for extended periods before being able to request an update of their number.
Now, with one simple tap of a finger, a user can complete the entire request to update their mobile number.

How Does The Mobile Number Update Option Work In The Aadhaar App?
The Mobile Number Update option for Aadhaar, is now available for use directly on the Aadhaar App.
At this point in time, the option to update your Email, address and/or name has not yet been implemented in the Aadhaar App.
Currently, Users will not be able to see the option for updating their Date of Birth in the Aadhaar App.
Any updates to Biometric information, such as Fingerprints, Retina Scans and/or photos, will still require a visit to the Aadhaar registered centre.
So for now, the mobile number is the only Aadhaar information that can be updated from home.
It is very important to have an active mobile number linked to Aadhaar. Starting from opening a bank account to getting any government service, to providing OTP-based proof, mobile number is essential.
This new Aadhaar update will solve the suffering of people and save time. It is especially beneficial for those who are changing their phone number. This update will save senior citizens, bedridden people or residents of remote areas from going to Aadhaar centers.
Over time, when the name, address, email, date of birth update becomes active in the UIDAI app, users will be able to have much more control over their data. All from home.

What you need to know for a new mobile number update
Aadhaar app or new Aadhaar app must be installed on your smartphone, Android or iOS.
When you apply for mobile number change, the app will send an OTP to the new number and ask for face-authentication to verify your identity.
Once verified, your mobile number will be updated in Aadhaar record. No more paperwork or visits to the center will be required.
