Will the coverage of the Ayushman Bharat scheme be increased?
According to the government’s plan, the health insurance provided under the Ayushman Bharat scheme may be increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. However, the benefit of increased coverage will not be available to everyone. This additional benefit will be given to families that have a member aged 70 years or older.
In such families, the senior citizen will be given an additional health coverage of Rs 5 lakh separately. This way, the total coverage for the entire family will increase to Rs 10 lakh.

Eligibility for Ayushman Bharat Scheme
This scheme is specifically designed for the economically weaker sections. It includes landless laborers, daily wage earners, domestic workers, sanitation workers, and other people with limited income.
Under the scheme, all dependent members of the family are covered, such as parents, grandparents, spouse, children, and other members living together. In addition, senior citizens aged 70 years or older are also covered under this scheme and are given special benefits.
