Special Trains: Good news for train passengers. Due to the Chhath festival, trains are experiencing a massive rush of people returning to Bihar and Purvanchal (UP). To address this, the Railways have claimed to have operated over 12,000 special trains to various parts of the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Surat, and Amritsar. Despite these trains, the inconvenience to the people has not been completely alleviated.
The Railways has also talked about running additional trains. Another major problem is returning to work after Chhath. The millions of people who have returned home in trains will also have to return to work after Chhath. To address this problem, the Railways has announced the operation of 6,181 special trains in addition to regular trains.
To manage the massive crowds expected during Chhath, well-equipped holding areas with all passenger amenities have been set up at major stations such as New Delhi, Anand Vihar Terminal, Udhna, Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru, etc. The Railways claims that staff are working tirelessly to guide passengers, maintain order, and ensure everyone reaches home safely to celebrate the festival with their loved ones. More than 900 additional special trains are being run since November 25th to ease the rush.
Nearly 30 stations in Bihar are being prepared for the festive rush with holding areas, additional ticket counters, CCTV surveillance, and other passenger-friendly arrangements. Additional coaches are also being added to existing services to meet the increased demand.
Weather-proof holding areas are being constructed at major stations to handle the heavy influx of passengers and provide comfortable waiting areas before trains depart. The stations where holding areas are being constructed include Patna, Danapur, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Saharsa, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Samastipur, Barauni, etc. in Bihar and Gorakhpur, Ballia, and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
