New Rule for Silver Jewellery: A big news has come out regarding silver jewellery. The government is soon going to implement a new rule of hallmarking on silver jewellery. This rule can start from September 1 and it will be implemented voluntarily at first. This means that jewelers can start putting hallmark on their jewellery. This is the same rule which was first implemented for gold jewellery in 2021. This new rule will benefit the customers a lot, as now they will get the guarantee of pure silver.

Under this rule, a hallmark with a special 6-digit HUID number will be put on silver jewelry. This hallmark will show the purity of silver. Silver jewelry will be divided into 6 grades, such as 900, 800, 835, 925, 970 and 990. These grades will tell how pure the silver in the jewelry is.
