The ATM and Automated Deposit-cum-Withdrawal Machine (ADWM) fees of the State Bank of India are increasing due to their decision to increase these fees starting December 1, 2025. This is the first increase in ATM fees for the bank since February 2025.
What will the ATM withdrawal cost be now?
For SBI Customers who withdraw funds from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at an alternate bank and exceed the free withdrawal limit, the fee will now be Rs. 23 + GST (Goods and Service Tax). Previously, the fee was Rs. 21 + GST. Customers will now incur a greater fee for each transaction they make beyond the free withdrawal limit.
In addition, customers will now incur additional fees for non-financial transactions, such as checking balances and printing mini statements. For instance, to view a mini statement, SBI customers will incur a fee of Rs. 11 + GST, up from Rs. 10 + GST for the previous transaction.
No change in free ATM transactions-
SBI has made it clear that there is no change in the number of free ATM transactions in regular savings accounts.
Customers will still be able to make five free transactions per month from ATMs of other banks.
This includes both financial and non-financial transactions.
The new charges will be applicable only after the free limit is exhausted.
Big blow for salary accounts:
Till now, unlimited free transactions were available on SBI salary package savings accounts and ATMs of other banks. However, now this facility has been discontinued. Salary accounts can now make 10 free transactions per month. After this, every withdrawal will cost Rs 23 plus GST and every non-financial transaction will cost Rs 11 plus GST.
Which accounts will not be affected?
SBI has said that some customers will be completely protected from this increase, such as:
- Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) accounts
- SBI debit cardholders transacting at SBI ATMs
- Cardless cash withdrawal from SBI ATMs (this facility will remain free as before)
- Kisan Credit Card (KCC) accounts
What will be the impact on the general public?
For customers who frequently use ATMs of other banks, each additional transaction will now be more costly. Especially salary account holders and people living in cities, who choose the nearest ATM as per convenience, will now have to be more careful.
