SBI ATM Charges Hike: The State Bank of India (SBI) has updated its ATM transaction fees. This adjustment comes as a result of rising interchange fees. It’s the first update since February 1, 2025. This change will impact savings and salary account holders who use ATMs from other banks. However, debit card users and Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) account holders at SBI’s ATMs won’t see any changes.

These updates took effect on December 1, 2025. For regular savings accounts (excluding personal segment, BSBD, KCC, and salary packages), customers can still enjoy five free financial and non-financial transactions per month at other bank ATMs; this part remains the same. After reaching the free limit, cash withdrawals will now incur a fee of Rs 23 + GST, an increase from the previous Rs 21 + GST. Non-financial transactions (like balance inquiries and mini statements) beyond the free limit will now cost Rs 11 + GST, up from Rs 10 + GST.

ATM charges for savings accounts

As for the Salary Package Savings Account, it used to provide unlimited free transactions (both financial and non-financial) at other bank ATMs, but this has now been capped at 10 free transactions per month across all centers. Cash withdrawals beyond the free limit will now cost Rs 23 + GST, compared to no charge before. Non-financial transactions will also be charged at Rs 11 + GST.

ATM Charges for Basic Savings Bank Deposits

There are no changes to the current service charges for Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) account holders. Additionally, there are no alterations to the transaction service charges for SBI debit card users at SBI’s own ATMs or ADWMs. Cardless cash withdrawals (like YONO Cash) will continue to be free and unlimited at SBI ATMs until further notice.

This update is happening because interchange fees have gone up, which led the bank to take a look at the service charges for ATM and ADWM transactions. The bank mentioned that this change might mean a bit more cost for customers who often use ATMs from other banks, but everything stays the same for SBI ATMs. Many customers with salary accounts who used to have unlimited free transactions will now need to be more careful. If you use another bank’s ATM more than 10 times in a month, extra charges will kick in.

This info is crucial for anyone with an SBI account who withdraws cash from ATMs. The bank has suggested that customers should do their transactions digitally, like using UPI, the YONO app, or at their branch to dodge those extra fees. It’s a small but significant change, brought on by increasing banking costs. For more details, check out the SBI website or visit a branch.
