State Bank of India has made an important announcement for its customers. The bank has said that the mCASH service on the OnlineSBI and YONO Lite apps will stop completely from November 30, 2025.
This means that from December 1, 2025, no customer will be able to send money using mCASH without registration. Customers will also not be able to receive money through the mCASH link or app.
SBI has said on its official website, “The mCASH facility will not be available on OnlineSBI and YONO Lite after 30.11.2025. Customers should send money to third-party accounts using other methods like UPI, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS, etc.”
What Is mCASH?
According to SBI’s official information, mCASH is a fast and easy service that lets SBI customers send money to others without registration. Customers can send money using only the mobile number or email ID of the receiver through OnlineSBI or the State Bank Anywhere app.
In this method, the receiver can have an account in any bank. SBI sends a special link through SMS or email along with an 8-digit passcode. The receiver must enter the bank account number, IFSC code, mobile number or email, and the passcode. After the bank verifies the details, the money is credited in real time.
The State Bank mCASH app had two main options — Claim and Favourites.
- Claim: Customers could claim the money sent to them.
- Favourites: Customers could save up to five account numbers and IFSC codes for quick claims.
Users could download the app from Google Play Store and create an mPIN to use it.
Why SBI Is Stopping mCASH
SBI has said that there are now safer and faster ways to make digital payments. The growth of UPI and its strong security has made money transfer easy and secure. So, the bank is encouraging customers to use modern and trusted methods.
After mCASH shuts down, SBI suggests that customers use UPI, IMPS, NEFT, and RTGS for sending money.
These modern digital payment methods will be the main and trusted options for safe money transfer in the future.
