Bihar Assembly Election 2025 – The battleground for the Bihar Assembly elections has finally begun, with candidates from all political parties filing their nominations. A large number of independents are also filing their nominations. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has also filed his nomination from his Tarapur constituency.
In his nomination affidavit, he declared movable and immovable assets worth over 10 crore rupees. Controversy surrounding his age and educational qualifications continues unabated. The BJP leader filed his nomination on Thursday, sparking speculation about his qualifications.
What information was provided in the affidavit?
Samrat Chaudhary provided details of his educational qualifications, assets, and pending cases in his affidavit during his nomination. According to the affidavit, he is facing two criminal cases. One case is from Patna, accusing him of violating the 2023 Act. The second case is from his home district, Munger.
A case was filed against him for violating the Model Code of Conduct during the Lok Sabha elections last year. Samrat Choudhary is contesting the Assembly elections after more than a decade. He has movable assets worth ₹99.32 lakh and immovable assets worth ₹8.28 crore. The vague details regarding the senior BJP leader’s age and educational qualifications in his 23-page affidavit have sparked renewed debate in political circles.
Prashant Kishore has also raised questions.
Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishore has also raised serious questions about Samrat Choudhary’s date of birth and educational qualifications. Kishore alleged that Choudhary had attempted to avoid prosecution by submitting a “fake” certificate in a 1995 case related to the murder of seven people in Tarapur.
This was a conspiracy to portray him as a minor at the time of the incident. According to Prashant Kishor, if Samrat Choudhary had stated his age as 51 years in his 2020 affidavit for the Legislative Council, then he would have been around 25-26 years old in 1995.
