Big news for ration card holders. In today’s world, a ration card is more than just a form of ID; it’s a crucial document for accessing various government benefits. People with ration cards are leveraging this document to tap into different schemes, which has only boosted its significance.

Lately, there have been reports that the government plans to revoke the ration cards of many Below Poverty Line (BPL) holders soon. This move targets those whose annual electricity bills exceed ₹ 20,000. The Food Supply Department will be responsible for removing the ration cards of these consumers.

Consumer Updates

The process of notifying consumers about this is already underway, but there hasn’t been any official confirmation yet. Officials mention that ration cards will undergo scrutiny and regulations will be enforced. Ration card depot holders in Kurukshetra district are spreading the word to consumers. However, it’s still unclear when the cards of those who don’t meet the eligibility criteria will be canceled.

Worries Among BPL Card Holders

This situation has caused quite a stir among BPL card holders. District Food and Supply Controller Surendra Saini stated that the department has set several conditions, one of which involves gathering information from the family identity card data. As of now, the Food and Supply Department hasn’t issued any official directives on this matter.
