Ration card holders must complete e-KYC, which is free and done through POS machines at all public distribution system shops. However, children and the elderly are facing difficulties with fingerprint and iris scanning because their fingerprints are unclear. This has affected the e-KYC process. To address this, the Food and Consumer Protection Department has issued an order allowing beneficiaries to complete facial e-KYC themselves from home.

Publicity for e-KYC

The department has outlined the e-KYC method to make it easier for beneficiaries to understand. A wide-scale campaign will be launched in the blocks to ensure 100% completion of e-KYC for all ration card holders within the given time frame.

Deadline for e-KYC Completion

The deadline for completing e-KYC has been extended twice, and now it is fixed for March. During this period, supply officers and block supply officers across all districts have been tasked with running awareness campaigns.

JVP shopkeepers are also asked to cooperate by displaying banners and posters and conducting door-to-door campaigns to inform the public.
