30% ethanol will be mixed in petrol

E20 fuel is currently in use in India. The central government has ramped this up and set fuel standards for petrol that can be blended with up to 30 percent ethanol. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced new standards for E22, E25, E27, and E30 fuels, allowing for ethanol blending in petrol from 22 percent to 30 percent. This move comes at a time when the ongoing conflict between Iran and the US has not only driven crude oil prices through the roof but has also led to a significant supply crisis.

According to reports, the new BIS notification doesn’t make E30 fuel mandatory across the country right away, but it does outline the technical specs needed to bring such a blend to market.

Currently, India is the largest importer of crude oil in the world. The government is actively working to cut down on crude oil imports and promote ethanol use. Car manufacturers are creating flex-fuel vehicles that can operate on various ethanol blends, and several companies are already testing or showcasing these models in the domestic market.
