PAN Card Update Online: If any information related to your name, address, mobile number, or date of birth is incorrectly entered on your PAN card, it is now easier than ever to correct it. The Income Tax Department has provided both online and offline facilities for PAN corrections. You can use the NSDL (Protean eGov) or UTIITSL portals for this. Fortunately, the entire process is digital, and most tasks can be completed from the comfort of your home.
How to Make Changes to a PAN Card Online
To update your PAN card, first visit the official website of NSDL (Protean eGov) or UTIITSL. There, you will see the option for PAN changes or corrections, which you must select. After this, you must enter the required information, such as PAN number, name, date of birth, and email address. Upon entering the information, a 15-digit token number is generated, which is used in the further process.

Then, select the information you want to correct, such as name, address, mobile number, or date of birth, and fill in the correct details. Then, upload the required documents, such as an identity card, address proof, date of birth documents, photo, and signature. After entering all the information, the fee is paid online, and the form is submitted. Finally, an acknowledgment slip is received, which allows you to check the status of your application later.
How to Update PAN Offline
If you do not wish to apply online, you can also use the offline method. Fill out a form titled “Request for New PAN Card and/or Changes or Correction in PAN Data.” This form is submitted to the nearest PAN Service Center along with the required documents. Proof of identity, address, and date of birth, along with the old PAN card, are required. After paying the fee, you will be given a receipt or acknowledgement slip, which can be used to track the status of the update.
Fee for updating your PAN card
If you only want an e-PAN (PAN card in PDF format), the fee is approximately ₹101 (including GST) for those living in India. For those living abroad, the fee can be around ₹1018. For a physical PAN card, approximately ₹110 is charged for those living in India and ₹1020 for those living abroad. The fee may vary slightly if changes are made to the photo, signature, or other biometrics.

How long does it take to receive an updated PAN card?
Updated PAN cards are usually issued within 15 to 20 days after all documents are submitted correctly. If any documents are missing or the information is incomplete, the process may take some additional time.
Difference between e-PAN and physical PAN card
If you have applied for a physical PAN card, the e-PAN is automatically sent to your registered email address. However, if you have opted for only e-PAN, you will not receive a physical card. The e-PAN is also completely valid and can be used at all relevant places.
