QR Code PAN 2.0– In India, PAN Card is necessary for any work related to money. The PAN card kept in the pocket is no longer just a piece of plastic. It is the biggest proof of financial identity. Actually, the central government approved the PAN 2.0 project in November 2024. The aim of this project is to improve the digital experience and security by redesigning the PAN-TAN services. Under this, e-PAN card with QR code will be sent to the registered email of the applicants free of cost. However, it will be necessary to apply for this.

Rs 50 will be charged for physical PAN card

A charge of Rs 50 will be levied for a physical PAN card. This charge will be applicable only to those living in India. The government had said that QR code is not a new facility. It has been included in PAN card since 2017-18. Under PAN 2.0, QR code will be further advanced, such as dynamic QR code, which will get the latest information of PAN database. Those who have an old PAN card without QR code, those users can also get a new smart card online for free under PAN 2.0.

When you scan this QR code with the special app of the Income Tax Department (PAN QR Code Reader), you will get all the information. All the things like your name, father’s name, date of birth, your photo and your digital signature will start appearing on the screen.

Now any institution, such as a bank or a financial company, can check the authenticity of your PAN card in seconds. They just have to scan the QR code. It can be matched with the information received from the government database. This will help in preventing the use of fake PAN cards.

Where does one get a PAN card from?

Let us tell you that two organizations can issue PAN card in India. The first is Protean e-Governance (formerly NSDL) and the second is UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL). The information given on the back of the PAN card can be used to find out who has issued your card. Based on this information, you will have to go to the relevant website and apply online.

How to apply for it

If your PAN card is issued by Protean e-Governance then the process of updating it is easy.

1 – First visit the Protean website and enter your PAN number, Aadhaar number (if have personal PAN), and date of birth.

2 – After this, confirm the information asked in the form.

3 – Now a One-Time Password (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number or email, after verifying which a fee of Rs 50 will have to be paid online.

4 – This fee is the cost of printing the new PAN card. Within 24 hours of payment, you will get the option to download the new PAN card on your email.
