Niramaya Health Insurance for Disabled: The Government of India launched the Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme, under which health coverage is given to people suffering from autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, and multiple disabilities. Insurance cover of up to Rs 1,00,000 is given for different expenses of treatment.

OPD treatment includes medicines, pathology, diagnostic tests, etc.

Regular medical tests: For non-sick, disabled persons.

Dental care: Preventive dental services.

Surgery: To prevent disability from worsening further or for existing disabilities (including congenital).

Non-surgical/Hospitalization: Coverage for non-surgical treatment and related stay.

Ongoing medical treatment: For management of disability and related complications.

Alternative medical treatment: Coverage for alternative treatment options.

How to split health insurance coverage?

Hospitalization cover of Rs 55000 includes corrective surgery for existing disability, including congenital disability (maximum limit of ₹15,000/- for other than corrective surgery for existing disability under SECI(A), which is included in the overall limit of ₹40,000/- of Section I(A))

OPD: Total expenses for OPD treatment are covered up to Rs 19,000, out of which Rs 15000 will be covered for medicines, pathology, and diagnostics. Whereas, up to Rs 4000 will be covered for dental treatment.

A cover of up to Rs 20,000 is given for the treatment of disability.

A cover of up to Rs 20,000 is given for the Ayush medical system.

A cover of up to Rs 2,000 is given for the expenses incurred in travelling for treatment.

Eligibility for Niramaya Health Insurance for the Disabled

Disabled persons who are suffering from disability are eligible for this scheme. There should be a valid disability certificate under the National Trust Act, 1999.

How to apply for Niramaya Health Insurance for the Disabled?

Parents/guardians of the disabled person should contact the nearest registered organization (RO) with the necessary documents for Niramaya registration.

The RO will fill out the Niramaya application form online, and after verifying all the documents, scan and upload the documents.

After registration and approval, a health ID number/card will be issued.

How to renew the scheme?

Beneficiary’s parents/guardians should log in to the Niramaya website.

After this, the scheme can be renewed online with the required documents.

The RO will verify the documents.

Pay the application fee online.

After receiving the payment, the RO will inform the beneficiary about the renewal for another year through the website.
