Individuals who frequently travel on national highways or expressways have something to be glad about. NHAI has initiated a new service through the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app that will assist drivers in route planning with the least toll expenses. The move will ease long commutes and become pocket-friendly. The feature is aimed at taking drivers from one city to another by selecting the route that will incur the least expense. Besides all this, the application also offers significant highway-related information and even allows you to lodge complaints directly.

How the App Finds the Cheapest Route

The technology of the app compares various routes between cities to recommend the most cost-effective toll road. For instance, if a user is taking Delhi to Lucknow, the app will analyze all the possible routes such as via Yamuna Expressway, Ghaziabad-Aligarh-Kanpur, or Moradabad-Bareilly-Sitapur and inform the user which one is optimal for money saving. As per Amrit Singha, IHMCL’s Chief Product Officer, the system will make route planning easier and provide greater transparency for highway users.

New Expressway Road from Bandikui to Jaipur

Besides this app service, soon drivers will have the advantage of an expressway road stretch in Rajasthan too. NHAI is set to throw open a 67-km Bandikui-Jaipur road, which would directly connect with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Regional officer Pradeep Atri revealed that this road, constructed at a cost of ₹1,368 crore, is expected to be trial-ready by July. It has been constructed in approximately two and a half years and will serve to reduce traffic on the existing Delhi-Jaipur highway.

Quicker travel to Jaipur

Tourists traveling from Delhi to Jaipur will also save time due to this new section. Currently, the trip takes up to four hours — two and a half hours to travel to Bandikui from Delhi, and one and a half hours from Bandikui to Jaipur. With the new highway open, commuters can travel the distance in three hours. It is likely to enhance road travel and assist in lessening congestion on old highways, providing a smoother ride to thousands of vehicles every day.

How NHAI Tracks Violations on Highways

The authorities are also employing technology to make the highways safer. In recent news, from June 21 to June 23 alone, over 1.73 lakh traffic offenses were reported, of which over one lakh were for restricted vehicles entering locations such as Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and Dwarka Expressway. The data was gathered under the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), which enables safer and better-controlled traffic movements.
