Big news for ration card holders. Ration card holders need to complete their e-KYC by March 31, or they risk losing access to the free grain scheme, and their ration cards could be canceled. According to the District Supply Branch, only 70% of members have completed the e-KYC process so far.
This means that out of 26,62,975 beneficiaries listed on the ration cards, only 19,07,549 have finished their e-KYC, leaving 7,55,426 (or 30%) still pending.
It’s important to note that under the National Food Security Act, all members of families with green and other ration cards, including PHH and AAY, must complete e-KYC as part of the State Food Security Scheme.
The deadline for e-KYC is March 31. If you miss this date, you might find your name removed from the ration card.
Getting your e-KYC done is pretty straightforward. Just head to the nearest government public distribution system shop with your Aadhar card and ration card. You’ll need to verify your identity using the POS machine at the shop. Simply place your thumb on the machine, and once your fingerprint is verified, the e-KYC process will be complete. Don’t forget to confirm with your ration dealer afterward!
District Supply Officer Seema Kumari mentioned that all block supply officers in the district have been told to oversee and guide the public distribution system shopkeepers in their areas to complete the e-KYC for all beneficiaries before the deadline. This way, they can ensure that 100% of the e-KYC for beneficiaries is finished on time.
She also pointed out that many people from rural areas move to cities for work, and these individuals can get their ration card e-KYC done from anywhere in the country.
