Big news for ration card holder’s. If you haven’t finished the eKYC process yet, make sure to do it within the next 7 days. If you don’t, you won’t be able to receive ration benefits starting in April. Any ration card holder who misses the deadline will have their name removed from the ration card, which means they won’t be able to access food grain distribution.
Ration card holders in the state can visit their local PDS shop or dealer to complete the eKYC. If you’re living in a different state, you don’t need to return home for Aadhaar seeding. You can simply go to the nearest Public Distribution System shop and finish the eKYC process using the e-POS machine.
The deadline for eKYC in Punjab, Bihar, and Jharkhand is March 31, 2025
1. The Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand has set March 31 as the final date for eKYC. Cardholders can reach out to their PDS shop or dealer for assistance. If you encounter any issues, feel free to contact the District Supply Office. Beneficiaries can complete the eKYC process at the nearest public distribution system shop using the e-POS machine.
2. In Bihar, the Nitish Kumar government has also established March 31, 2025, as the deadline for eKYC. Aadhaar seeding will be provided for free at the dealer’s shop. E-KYC will be available daily from 10 AM to 12 noon at the dealer’s location. The department has introduced a Facial e-KYC option, allowing beneficiaries to complete their KYC using the Mera e-KYC app (AadhaarfaceRD) from anywhere in the country on their mobile devices.
3. The Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab has also set March 31 as the deadline for KYC for those receiving rations from government depots. Ration card holders who haven’t completed their KYC should register all family members listed on the ration card at a nearby depot as soon as possible to avoid issues with receiving rations.
Why eKYC is Important for Ration Card Holders
Having an Aadhaar card, ration card, or BPL card is essential for accessing various government schemes at both the central and state levels. If you’ve already completed your e-KYC, it makes it much easier for the government to deliver the benefits of these schemes to you. On the flip side, if you haven’t done your eKYC, you risk having your government-provided ration cut off.
eKYC, which stands for Know Your Customer, is crucial for verifying the identities of ration card holders and getting rid of fraudulent ration cards.
Completing the KYC process is beneficial only for those who are genuinely eligible. If someone is using a fake ration card, it can be revoked. As part of the eKYC process, every member associated with a ration card must ensure that their name, date of birth, and other details match their Aadhaar information.
