What is a duplicate RC, and why is it needed

A duplicate RC is a replacement for your vehicle’s original registration certificate. It is as valid as the original RC. If your vehicle’s original RC is lost, damaged, or needs to have its information updated, you can apply for a duplicate RC.

How to Apply for Duplicate RC
How to Apply for Duplicate RC

The main reasons for needing a duplicate RC are:

  • First, the RC book is lost or stolen.
  • Second, the RC book is torn or burned.
  • Third, any changes to vehicle information (such as name, address, etc.).

Note: If the RC is lost or stolen, it is mandatory to first file an FIR (First Information Report) at the nearest police station. Without this, the application for a duplicate RC will not be accepted.
