To help women become financially strong, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has started the ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’. Under this scheme, even women who have passed 10th class can become LIC agents. They will get a monthly stipend of ₹7,000 in the first year. This scheme not only gives a stable income but also helps in spreading awareness about insurance.
What Is LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana and Who Can Apply?
Bima Sakhi Yojana is a scheme started by Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to support women empowerment. Under this scheme, selected women can work as LIC agents. LIC gives them a monthly stipend of ₹7,000 during the first year. In the second year, if 65% of the policies from the first year stay active, women will get a stipend of ₹6,000 per month. This amount is given based on performance.
LIC also gives training to these women so they can learn how to sell insurance policies and spread awareness about insurance in their area. LIC provides marketing material, digital tools, and full support to help them work confidently in the field.
- Women who want to apply must be between 18 and 70 years of age. They must have passed at least 10th class.
- Women cannot apply if they are close relatives (like wife, children, or parents) of current LIC agents or employees, or if they were previous agents or retired employees of LIC.
To apply, women need these documents:
- Self-attested copy of age proof
- Self-attested copy of address proof
- Self-attested copy of 10th pass certificate
- One passport-size colour photo
How Much Can Women Earn Under This Scheme?
In the first year, women get a stipend of ₹7,000 per month. In the second year, if 65% of the first year’s policies remain active, they get ₹6,000 per month. From the third year onwards, the amount depends on their performance.
LIC spends most of the money on training and support. Women are taught about LIC policies, sales methods, customer handling, and marketing. This helps them earn and build a strong career in insurance.
