When will PAN 2.0 be implemented?
The Income Tax Department has given the tender to LTIMindtree company for upgrading PAN cards. The government had told in the Lok Sabha that after giving the tender to the company, PAN 2.0 will be implemented in 18 months. The tender has been given. That means now PAN 2.0 will be implemented after the next 18 months.
What changes will happen with the implementation of PAN 2.0?
The government explained the reason behind implementing PAN 2.0 in the Lok Sabha. The purpose behind implementing it is to simplify the process of PAN and TAN. Through this, the service given to the public is to be improved further and to deliver it as quickly as possible. The problems are to be solved as quickly as possible through the latest technology. PAN 2.0 will be a one stop solution for issuance of TAN (Tax and Collection Account Number), tax deduction, allotment, correction, Aadhaar PAN linking, online validation, re-issue of PAN card.
PAN 2.0 will extensively use technology for paperless processes. Allotment/updation/correction of PAN will be done free of cost and e-PAN will be sent to the registered mail ID.
Which company will manage the work of PAN 2.0?
The work of PAN 2.0 will be managed by the IT company LTIMindtree. According to a report, the Income Tax Department has given a tender of Rs 792 crore to the company.
Will the current PAN card become useless?
After the implementation of PAN 2.0, the old PAN card will not become useless. Nor will you have to apply for a new PAN card. Currently, for the services related to PAN card, one has to visit three platforms e-Filing Portal, UTIITSL Portal and Protean e-Gov Portal. But PAN 2.0 will integrate all these services on a single portal. This will improve the user experience.
