Jeevika Didi- The central government runs various schemes to promote women empowerment. Crores of women of the country benefit from these government schemes. Apart from the central government, governments of different states of the country also run schemes for women. The Bihar government provides help to women at different levels in its state. In order to improve the standard of living of women and increase their participation in society, Jeevika Didi is created under a scheme in this regard.

Jeevika Didi is not a scheme for women in Bihar. Rather it is a way to become self-reliant. Here women can make their identity by joining as Jeevika Didi. The purpose of this initiative going on in every village is that women stand on their own feet and can play a strong role in the family as well as in the society.

To become a Jeevika Didi, women have to join a self-help group. These groups are women’s groups that work together in villages. They start with savings and small businesses and then work on a larger scale. But let us tell you that women do not get direct salary in this. The government has now formed Jeevika Nidhi Credit Cooperative Union Limited to provide direct financial assistance to Jeevika sisters. It will be run like a bank and in the initial phase, three types of loans will be made available to women.

With this, women will be able to easily take loans for their small business, farming or other needs. Under this scheme, women will get loans of Rs 15 thousand, Rs 75 thousand and maximum Rs 2 lakh. For which the interest rate has been fixed at 12 percent per annum. A time limit has also been set for repaying the loan. So that there is no pressure on women and they can pay the installments comfortably. According to the rules, a loan of Rs 15,000 will have to be repaid in one year. Two years will be given to repay a loan of Rs 75,000 while a loan of Rs 2 lakh will have to be repaid in three years.
