According to the Income Tax Act 1961, it is mandatory for people whose annual salary is more than the basic exemption limit to file income tax returns. ITR forms and facilities have been made available by the Income Tax Department, but the salaried class people will have to wait a little longer. The process of filing returns for the salaried class will start from June 15, 2025. Actually, employed people will get Form 16 only after this date. Many companies give Form 16 to their employees only by the end of June or July and after that ITR or TDS returns can be filed.

How to file ITR?

According to the Income Tax Department, the process of ITR filing can be adopted both online or offline. To make online ITR filing easier, the Income Tax Department has also released ITR Utility Tools some time back. You can file ITR online through the e-filing website.

Step by Step Process of ITR Filing

1.Visit the e-filing website of the Income Tax Department.
2.Enter PAN card number as user ID to login.
3.After this, login after entering the password.
4.After clicking on “e-File” click on Income Tax Return.
5.Select “AY 2025-26” for Assessment Year and click on Online.
6.If you are filing ITR for yourself then select Individual.
7.After this select the correct ITR form and check all the information correctly.
8.Check the information including PAN card, name, Aadhar card, bank etc.
9.Finally verify for ITR and for this you can select Aadhaar OTP.
10. If you want, you can take a print out of ITR-V. You can sign it and send it to CPC, Bangalore.
