Indian Railways: Good news for everyone. On March 14th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a new train service from Purulia, West Bengal. This train will travel through Varanasi Junction (Cantonment Railway Station). It aims to offer greater convenience for passengers journeying from Varanasi to Anand Vihar, with stops in Ayodhya and Lucknow.
During his visit to West Bengal this week, the Prime Minister will also present various gifts to the nation. Additionally, he will launch several railway initiatives, including the new train service from Purulia to Anand Vihar.
As per the details released by Northern Railway, this train will depart from Purulia and make its way to Varanasi, stopping at stations such as Ramgarh, Ranchi, Lohardaga, Latehar, Palamu, Garhwa, Rohtas, Kaimur, and Chandauli.
The train will reach Delhi via three states
The biggest benefit of this new rail service will be that people in West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh will have a direct and convenient rail option to Delhi. Connecting religious cities like Varanasi and Ayodhya will also make travel easier for pilgrims. Along with boosting religious tourism, economic activity in these regions is also expected to gain momentum.
Until now, regular travelers faced numerous challenges when journeying from Purulia to Delhi. They had to depend on other stations to board a train to Delhi. However, that is about to change. Reports indicate that direct train travel from Purulia to Delhi will soon be much easier. Senior DCM of Adra Division, Bikash Kumar, shared important details on this development. He mentioned, “The 14021/14022 Purulia–Anand Vihar Express will be introduced shortly.”
As per the newly released schedule, train number 14021 Purulia–Anand Vihar Express is set to leave Purulia station at approximately 5 PM every Friday, arriving at Delhi’s Anand Vihar terminal at 11:10 PM the following day. Bikash Kumar also noted that for the return trip, train number 14022 Anand Vihar–Purulia Express will depart from Anand Vihar at around 5 AM every Thursday, reaching Purulia at 10:40 AM the next day.
