Indian Railways: Big news for railway passengers. Train security at Prayagraj Junction is about to become even more high-tech. Trains entering and leaving the station premises will no longer be monitored by railway personnel, but by AI (artificial intelligence). North Central Railway has begun the process of installing a high-tech AI monitoring system at the station. This system will scan train arrivals and departures, the condition of wheels and axles, etc. in real time and will immediately send alerts to the control room in case of any malfunction or danger.

The Railways has decided to implement this plan in a phased manner. Prayagraj Junction and Kanpur Central of the Prayagraj Division have been selected for the first phase. Both stations will be equipped with modern, AI-based CCTV cameras. Subsequently, other major stations such as Jhansi, Agra, Etawah, and Tundla will also be gradually integrated with this technology. North Central Railway has allocated a budget of approximately Rs 1 crore for this project.

Till now, railway personnel used to inspect trains. Before entering the station premises, railway personnel used to check the wheels, overheated axles, broken springs, loose bolts etc. and inform the railway control room. Now this work will be done automatically by the AI system. AI cameras will scan every part of the trains coming and going on the platform. Images of the underside of the coach, overheated axles, wheels and any suspicious activity will be analyzed immediately. In case of any abnormality, the system will automatically send an alert message to the control room, thereby reducing the chances of accidents or security lapses. Modern cameras will work even in cold, darkness, heavy rain and fog.
