ATM, UPI– The situation between India and Pakistan is tense since Operation Sindoor. Keeping this in mind, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has given strict instructions to RBI and NPCI. While reviewing banking operations and cyber security, she has asked banks to be cautious. Apart from this, strict instructions have also been given by the Finance Ministry to ensure that customers continue to receive all services without any interruption.
According to reports, the Finance Ministry has asked Cyber RBI, NPCI and major banks to work immediately to enhance cyber security. Nirmala Sitharaman also held a meeting with the CEOs of major insurance companies regarding this.
These instructions were given regarding UPI
According to a Money Control report, a senior government official has confirmed that these instructions have been given to protect financial institutions and other important organizations from potential cyber attacks . CERT-In i.e. Computer Emergency Response Team and RBI have asked banks and payment companies to be prepared for cyber threats. On May 9, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in a high level meeting has asked representatives of RBI, NPCI, NSE, BSE, and major banks to immediately start working to secure the core banking system, payment gateways and UPI infrastructure.

In his meeting, the Finance Minister also asked the banks to ensure that citizens and businesses do not face any problems under any circumstances . Apart from this, cash should be available in ATMs without any interruption, UPI and internet banking services and essential banking facilities should also continue to function safely. At the same time, bank officials have said that their SOC and network operation centers are fully operational and are on high alert.
Let us tell you that recently DoT had asked all private and government telecom companies to make disaster level preparations. Apart from this, the Department of Telecommunications had also asked the companies to make their networks more secure. Actually, after India’s action, the threat of cyber attacks from Pakistan has increased. For this reason, these strict orders were also given to the telecom companies by DoT.
