Free Scooty Yojana: The government of Uttar Pradesh introduces numerous initiatives for women and female students annually. In this context, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has unveiled the Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme as part of the 2025 budget. This initiative aims to provide free scooters to meritorious girl students within the state, facilitating their uninterrupted educational pursuits.
Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme
The scheme is particularly advantageous for those female students who travel from remote villages to urban areas for their studies and encounter transportation challenges. The announcement was made on February 20, 2025, by UP Finance Minister Suresh Khanna during the budget presentation, with a budget allocation of Rs 400 crore.
Primary objective of this initiative
The primary objective of this initiative is to promote education among girls and enhance their transportation accessibility. Economically disadvantaged female students from rural backgrounds will particularly benefit from this program. Applicants must be residents of Uttar Pradesh, with preference given to those achieving over 75% in their 12th-grade examinations. Special consideration will be afforded to girl students from rural regions. Additionally, the family’s annual income must not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. Only those female students enrolled in government or recognized institutions are eligible to apply.
Who are eligible for application
Students whose families earn more than Rs 2.5 lakh annually will not qualify for this scheme. Furthermore, any girl student who has previously benefited from another government scooter initiative will be excluded from this program. Those attending private colleges or unrecognized institutions will also be ineligible.
