Will the new facility start in schools?
UIDAI has taken a new initiative in collaboration with the Department of School Education and Literacy. Under this, schools will be informed through the UDISE+ app which students’ Aadhaar biometric updates are still pending. This will make it easier for schools, and the Aadhaar update of children can be completed on time.
Why is a biometric update necessary?
According to UIDAI, biometric data of children should be updated twice – first time at the age of 5 and second time at the age of 15. This keeps the information recorded in Aadhaar correct, and there is no problem related to identification at the time of any scheme or examination in the future.
More than 17 crore Aadhaar updates are pending
Let us tell you that biometric updates are pending for about 17 crore Aadhaar numbers across the country. If this is not done on time, then students may face difficulty in applying for competitive examinations, like taking advantage of government schemes.
