A big rule has been changed regarding EPFO. EPFO has revamped the rules for updating profiles. Now, EPF members can easily update their Aadhaar-linked UAN without needing to upload any documents.

If your UAN is connected to Aadhaar, you can change your name, date of birth, gender, nationality, parents’ names, marital status, and other personal info without any document uploads. This change will benefit over 6 crore members.

Previously, the process was a bit cumbersome. Members had to get their employer’s approval to make profile updates, which could take up to 28 days. Now, around 45% of the 8 lakh correction requests received by EPFO in FY 2024-25 can be approved directly by members without needing employer or EPFO approval.

However, if your UAN was issued before October 1, 2017, you’ll still need your employer’s approval for any updates. Remember, linking your Aadhaar and PAN is essential for making any updates or withdrawals from your EPF account. If there are discrepancies between your EPF details and Aadhaar, it could delay the approval process.

Want to update your EPF profile? Here’s how:

1. Go to the official EPF website at www.epfindia.gov.in.

2. Log in to the member portal using your UAN number, password, and captcha.

3. Navigate to the menu and click on the ‘Manage’ option.

4. Select ‘Modify Basic Details.’

5. Enter your personal information and hit submit.

6. Finally, track the status of your profile update using the ‘Track Request’ option.
