Gold Prices Fall: Daily fluctuations are observed in gold and silver prices. Today—May 18—gold rates witnessed a decline during early trading hours. On the MCX, silver prices dropped by approximately ₹7,000, while gold became cheaper by up to ₹1,000. In the previous session, silver for July delivery on the MCX had closed at a price of ₹271,886 per kilogram. On Monday, it opened at ₹267,400 and, during early trading, fell to ₹264,949—marking a decline of ₹6,937.
By 10:10 AM, it was trading at ₹272,039, up ₹153. Meanwhile, as of 11:00 AM, gold for June 5 delivery stood at ₹158,850 per 10 grams. Gold for June 5 delivery had initially traded at ₹157,547—down ₹1,000 during early trading—but has since recovered to reach ₹158,850.
It is worth noting that in the futures market, gold had reached a high of ₹180,779 per 10 grams on January 29. Meanwhile, according to GoodReturns, the price of 24-carat gold currently stands at ₹156,370 per 10 grams. Additionally, according to the Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), 24-carat gold had closed at ₹158,210 per 10 grams on Friday.
