Baal Aadhaar Card: Aadhaar has become the foundation for everything, especially for children, from school admissions to government schemes. The blue Baal Aadhaar card issued by UIDAI is for children under 5 years of age and does not require biometrics. However, updating it between the ages of 5 and 15 is mandatory, otherwise it may become inactive. The good news is that this update is completely free and no documentation is required.
Why is it important?
A child’s Aadhaar is linked to the parent’s Aadhaar. The first biometric update is required at the age of 5, involving fingerprints, an iris scan, and a photo. A second update is required at 15 years of age. Failure to do so on time could result in difficulties for the child in school admissions, subsidies, or other benefits. UIDAI clarified in recent guidelines that this process has been simplified so that every parent can easily complete it.
Easy update process
- First of all visit the UIDAI website uidai.gov.in and click or go to ‘Find Nearest Aadhaar Centre’.
- Select the nearest enrolment centre and book an appointment online. Enter the child’s name, date of birth, and parent’s mobile number.
- On the day of the appointment, bring your child to the center. It’s important to bring along the necessary documents, such as the child’s birth certificate, the parents’ Aadhaar card, and proof of address.
- Fill out the form at the center and record your child’s biometrics (fingerprint, iris, photo). There is no fee.
- The update will be confirmed via SMS and you will receive a new Aadhaar card email or download link.
UIDAI Guidelines
Parents often forget, but it’s crucial to update your Aadhaar in a timely manner. If your Aadhaar has lapsed, you may need to get a new one. Experts recommend updating your Aadhaar as soon as your child turns 5-6 years old. UIDAI has also set up special child update camps at its centers. This simple step will secure your child’s future. Book an appointment today and be worry-free.
Easy to understand
A parent who is enrolling their child in school suddenly discovers that the Aadhaar card contains an old address or photo. Previously, they had to pay a fee to update the Aadhaar card, but now the process is free and simple. This change not only provides financial relief but also reassures parents that their child’s identity will always be correct.
