Great news for Aadhaar cardholders! The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has once again extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updates. If you need to make changes to your Aadhaar details, you now have until June 14, 2026, to do so without any charges. After this date, you may have to pay a fee for updates.
How to Update Aadhaar for Free?
UIDAI has confirmed that free updates can only be done online through the myAadhaar portal. This facility allows users to update their demographic details (such as name, address, and date of birth) without any cost. However, biometric updates (fingerprints, iris scan, or photo) still require a visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra, where a nominal fee applies.
Documents Required for Aadhaar Update
To update your Aadhaar details, you will need to upload valid proof of identity and address documents. UIDAI emphasizes that while online updates are free, they come with limited features. For full updates, including biometric changes, visiting an Aadhaar center is necessary.
Why Should You Update Your Aadhaar?
The government recommends updating your Aadhaar details every 10 years to ensure accuracy. For children with Baal Aadhaar, an update is required once between the ages of 5 and 15.
