IndiGo SBI Credit Card – Good news for everyone. The country’s largest airline, IndiGo, and SBI Card have jointly launched a new co-branded credit card. This card is specifically designed with air travelers in mind. There are two variants of this card: IndiGo SBI Card and IndiGo SBI Card ELITE.

These cards earn IndiGo BluChips for every spend, which can then be redeemed for flight tickets, seats, meals, and other services. Both cards are available in RuPay and Mastercard variants. You can also make UPI payments with RuPay cards.

IndiGo SBI Card ELITE:

7 IndiGo BluChips for every Rs. 100 spent on IndiGo website/app
3 IndiGo BluChips for every Rs. 100 spent on hotel and travel bookings (on other platforms)
25,000 additional BluChip vouchers on spending Rs 12 lakh annually

What’s special?

IndiGo SBI Card Elite holders receive coverage of up to Rs 3,000 per ticket for up to four flight cancellations per year and up to Rs 72,000 for loss of checked-in baggage. According to Mittal, this feature is crucial for cardholders in emergencies. Both variants include airport lounge access.

What’s the drawback?

Annual fee waivers aren’t based on spending, but you do receive BluChips based on the fees paid. IndiGo SBI Card holders receive 2,500 BluChips, while IndiGo SBI Card Elite holders receive 5,000 BluChips. Mandal said that the value of BluChips is dynamic and is determined by the flight route, booking date, etc. The Elite card offers an average return of 3.5% (at a BluChips value of 50%) on IndiGo flight bookings, but this drops to just 1% on non-flight spends, which is low for premium cards. According to Mandal, even among IndiGo co-branded cards, the IDFC First Bank IndiGo Credit Card offers slightly better value than the SBI Elite.

Should you apply?

Those who fly IndiGo frequently can earn rewards with these cards and also take advantage of additional perks like airport lounge access. According to Mittal, “Those with higher spending habits can benefit from these cards as they offer milestone rewards called BluChips.” Mandal said that customers have better options with both variants of the IndiGo SBI credit card. In comparison, the Axis Atlas Credit Card and HDFC Regalia Gold offer more flexibility, better milestone benefits, and higher returns, all at a lower annual fee. Even among IndiGo co-branded cards, the IDFC First Bank IndiGo Credit Card offers higher reward value than the SBI IndiGo Elite. The forex markup charge on this card is only 1.49 percent, compared to 1.99 percent on the SBI IndiGo Elite.

For those who still want to apply for any variant of the IndiGo SBI Credit Card, Mittal advised them to take full advantage of the card’s benefits, especially the milestone rewards. Mandal said, “Despite the annual fee of Rs 4,999 for the IndiGo SBI Credit Card Elite, we were expecting a lot of value and benefits, but unfortunately, this card does not live up to expectations.”
