Ration Card: The deadline for completing the e-KYC for your Aadhar card was March 31st, and now you can no longer do it. If you miss this step, it could impact your ration supply and you might miss out on various government benefits in Delhi. But just getting your ration card’s e-KYC done isn’t enough.
Perhaps you’ve provided incorrect information on your ration card
Are you one of those individuals who might be unintentionally misleading the government? Perhaps you’ve provided incorrect information on your ration card, which could lead to issues down the line. Several states are cracking down on those who fraudulently obtain BPL cards to exploit government schemes. Delhi’s Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, has stated that ration cards will be verified before any government programs are rolled out.
Important to update
It’s worth noting that ration cards in Delhi haven’t been updated in a decade, so there are likely many cases where people’s financial situations have changed or where individuals have passed away. If your ration card contains outdated information, it’s crucial to address it right away. This is especially important because if pension payments for a deceased family member are still being deposited, the government may seek to reclaim those funds.
In such cases you should surrender the card
For instance, if an elderly relative passed away six months ago and you haven’t removed their name from the pension account, you could be required to return those payments. To avoid any complications, make sure to update your ration card by removing the names of deceased family members. Since the last ration cards were issued, many people’s incomes may have changed, and the government plans to investigate this. If your income is above the poverty line and you no longer need a ration card, you can choose to surrender it voluntarily.
