Today, real estate is considered one of the best investment options. It is counted as a safe platform and can be very useful for your future. However, fraud in property transactions has also become common. Nowadays, cases are emerging where fraudsters register land in someone else’s name using fake documents and then sell it to others. This scam has led to losses worth crores of rupees. If you have also been a victim of such fraud, you can easily file a complaint. Complaints about fake property registration can be made both online and offline.
How to Complain Offline
You can report fake registration by visiting the office of the Registrar or Sub-Registrar. Explain that the registry was done fraudulently or by trickery. Ask for the fake registry to be canceled. Also, mention that you did not permit this registry. The officer will then review your documents and cancel the fake registration.
How to Complain at the Police Station
Visit your local police station to report the fake registry. File a complaint of fraud and dishonesty under Section 318 of the Indian Penal Code.
How to Report Online
If you are a resident of Uttar Pradesh or Bihar, visit the office of the Inspector General of Registration or use their online portal to file a complaint about the fake registry.
If someone has registered your plot in their name, you can also go to the civil court and claim your property.
Important Reminder
Before filing any complaint, make sure you have all the necessary documents for your plot. Without these documents, you cannot claim the land. Also, when buying land, always ensure that the land is registered in the seller’s name to avoid any fraud.
