EPFO UPI PF Withdrawal Facility New App Launch Update 2026

A major step is being taken to further modernize provident fund services for organized sector employees in India. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization is now preparing to launch a UPI-based PF withdrawal facility for its members. Once this new system is implemented, employees will be able to withdraw a portion of their PF funds in a fraction of the time, and the money will be directly credited to their bank account. This initiative aims to promote digital transactions and speed up the claim process.
How the new digital system will work
In the new system, members will be required to select the reason for withdrawal when applying online. Options such as illness, education, marriage, or household expenses will be available. The system will automatically determine the amount based on the member’s eligibility, and the amount will be transferred directly to the linked savings bank account. The entire transaction will be completed securely through UPI PIN authentication. This will significantly reduce the claim processing time and ensure almost instant payments.
Existing rules will not change
The new feature is being introduced solely to speed up and simplify the process. Existing rules will remain in effect. Under the current system, employees can withdraw a maximum of 75 percent of their PF balance. However, a minimum one-year unemployment period is required to withdraw the entire pension fund. The new system will retain these rules, but only strengthen the digital process.
Testing and Launch Timeline of the New Mobile App
According to reports, this new system is currently undergoing testing. In the initial phase, it is being trialed on approximately 100 dummy accounts to ensure technical glitches can be addressed in time. Reports suggest its public launch is expected around April 2026. The existing portal and government app will continue to function as before, while the new platform will serve as an additional feature.
These features will be available in the new app
The new app will not only facilitate withdrawals but will also allow members to check their account balances, download passbooks, and access other account-related services. This platform will serve as an all-in-one digital PF management system, eliminating the need for employees to repeatedly log in to different portals.
This new feature will further accelerate the digitization of government services, relieving employees of lengthy paperwork, increasing transparency, and strengthening trust in digital payment systems.
