Know what the detail is?
This step of EPFO has started to make UAN more authentic and error-free. There is an important 12-digit unique identification code given to every employee nominated under the EPFO scheme. Without this, EPFA subscribers may face problems like accessing their PF balance and claiming an advance withdrawal. Some of its rules are also different.
Know the new rules
According to EPFO, the new rules will prove to be very important for the employee. New employees will have to complete the process of generating UAN only through Aadhaar-based face authentication. In exceptional cases like global employees and citizens of Nepal and Bhutan, the existing employer-based UAN process is going to continue as normal.
The use of Aadhaar-based FAT has now been made mandatory for most employees. There will be a need to take special care of new employees, as this process will be completed only through the Umang app.
Who will be affected?
According to EPFO, the new requirement of facial recognition can create problems for staffing firms providing manpower solutions to multinational companies. This has also been emphasised by the Indian Staffing Federation in a recent presentation to the EPFO.
The revised policy may create problems for the employees. Many of them do not have their mobile numbers linked to their Aadhaar. Anyway, the Indian Staffing Federation can employ more than 18 lakh employees.
