The central government had decided to increase the minimum pension in 2014. Since then, retired employees and unions have been continuously demanding a significant increase in the retirement amount.

Currently, EPFO ​​members get a minimum pension of Rs 1000 per month. This amount is given under the Employees’ Pension Scheme EPS 1995. Pensioners are constantly alleging that this amount is not enough in the current inflationary era. There are cries that it is not possible to meet even daily needs from it. In view of the rising inflation, there is a demand to increase the retirement amount.

A proposal has been filed in this regard. It is being reported that the Ministry of Labor is seriously considering pension hike. The previous meeting was held in February 2025. At the same time, the proposal for pension hike was up for discussion. But a decision could not be taken on it. Now, after 9 months, this meeting is going on in Bengaluru from October 11. This meeting was going on till yesterday. No update has come out.
