EPFO UAN generation: In a significant digital milestone, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has added face authentication technology to make the process of creating and activating the Universal Account Number (UAN) fast-track. This new step is aimed at providing members with contactless, secure, and entirely digital services, enhancing ease of access to important retirement-related services.
A Step Towards Secure and Contactless Services
Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya made the announcement that EPFO members can now create their UAN through face authentication. The move is part of EPFO’s endeavour to digitalize services and do away with physical presence. The face authentication process guarantees increased security as it does away with conventional biometric or OTP-based verifications with a more sophisticated and precise system.
UAN Generation Through UMANG App
EPFO has provided this service through the UMANG mobile application. The employers can utilize the application to create a UAN for new employees by using Aadhaar-based Face Authentication Technology (FAT). The employees just have to open the application, undergo the face scan procedure, and after Aadhaar authentication, the UAN would be sent through SMS to the Aadhaar-linked mobile number. This enables new employees to view their provident fund accounts easily and quickly.
Convenient Access to UAN Card and Services
Once the UAN is created, workers can obtain their UAN card from the UMANG app or the EPFO Member Portal themselves. Even for already-allocated UAN users who have not activated the same so far, the app is made available with a simple activation facility through face recognition. This new method is hoped to cut down on dependence on employers or local EPFO offices for such simple services.
Face Authentication Provides Greater Security
The face authentication system is safer than conventional verification. It not only makes the verification easy but also gives users autonomy to take care of their PF accounts on their own. Minister Mandaviya pointed out that 100% Aadhaar validation and face authentication guarantee correct and tamper-proof verification, which is helpful for millions of members in the nation.
Doorstep Pension Services on the Horizon
In the future, EPFO is also going to implement face verification in order to provide services at the doorstep of the pensioners. The organization will work in coordination with MY Bharat volunteers to assist retired people in providing their digital life certificate through facial recognition. This move is likely to help pensioners a lot who are unable to go to offices or rely on conventional verification processes.
Conclusion: A Game-Changing Digital Move
Through this digital refresh, EPFO has made a substantial leap in providing effective and safe services to its members. From UAN generation to pension validation, face authentication functionality is going to redefine convenience for crores of EPFO beneficiaries.
