Driving License New Rules: It’s no longer enough to simply assume you know how to drive. To obtain a permanent driving license, every applicant will have to undergo a rigorous test at an automated driving training center. Under the new rules, applicants driving both bikes and cars will be required to complete an eight-digit track within the stipulated time. Sensors and cameras will monitor every movement throughout the test, and even the slightest mistake will result in the applicant returning without a license.

Automatic Track Must Be Completed in Time

The time to complete the track for bikes and cars has been set at approximately 3.25 minutes. Sensors will beep whenever a mistake is made on the track, and the error will be recorded on the camera. After this, the applicant will be considered a failure. This system has been implemented to ensure that drivers taking to the road are fully trained and responsible.

Rules to Change in the New Year

The practice of obtaining a permanent DL through manipulation after obtaining a learner’s license at home is about to end. Applicants booking slots online for a permanent DL starting the new year will first have to visit the ARTO office located at Transport Nagar or Deva Road. After completing the application verification and biometric process, they will be sent to the Automated Driving Training Center located at Udet Kheda Munda.

This modern center has been built in accordance with the guidelines of the Union Ministry of Road Transport. The center is approximately 12 kilometers from Transport Nagar via the Nadarganj Industrial Area, while its distance from Kanpur Road Kisan Path is approximately 20 kilometers.

The real test will be on the track:

Upon arriving at the center, applicants will need to show their booking slot at the token counter. After completing the photo and signature process, car and truck applicants will undergo a five-minute simulator training. This simulator, similar to a computer game, provides an understanding of traffic rules and speed control by driving in a virtual environment.

After completing the simulator, applicants will be sent to the actual automated track. Separate tracks have been created for two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and trucks. For cars, separate times are set for parallel parking, uphill driving, and reversing. Truck drivers will be given slightly more time. Sensors and elevated cameras along the entire track will record every movement.

New Initiatives for Pollution Control

To reduce pollution caused by vehicular movement, fast-growing evergreen trees like Conocarpus have been planted on the center campus. These trees help absorb dust and pollutants, keeping the environment green.

Complaints Regarding Manual Tests

Until now, driving tests were conducted manually at Transport Nagar and Deva Road, which often led to complaints of violations. According to the ARTO administration, there will be no separate fee for the test at the automated driving center. However, applicants can receive training on road rules for a fixed fee, making it easier to pass the test.
