Diwali Bonus : Big news for coal miners. Telangana government’s public sector company Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) on Saturday gave a ‘ Diwali bonus ‘ of Rs 1.03 lakh to each of its 39,500 employees working in the state’s coal mines. This information was given by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. In a statement issued on Friday, before the formal transfer of the bonus amount, Vikramarka said, “On behalf of the state government, I am announcing a bonus of Rs 400 crore to the workers of Singareni, who illuminate the country with their hard work.”
Bonus given under PLR scheme
SCCL Managing Director N. Balaram said the government has ordered company management to pay a Diwali bonus of ₹1.03 lakh to each eligible worker under the Performance Linked Reward (PLR) scheme. Balaram said the bonus was credited to the workers’ bank accounts on Saturday. According to the order, the Diwali bonus is only for workers, not officers. The order states that employees who have completed at least 190 muster days in underground mines or 240 muster days in open-cast and surface operations during the 2024-25 financial year will receive the full bonus of Rs 1.03 lakh.
What is the minimum number of days required for the bonus?
Those who work fewer days will receive a bonus on a pro-rata basis. Workers who have completed at least 30 muster days will be eligible for the bonus. However, employees fired for misconduct, violence, or damage to company property will not receive the bonus.
Balaram stated that the Diwali bonus demonstrates the state government’s continued commitment to the well-being of its employees. He added that this initiative will bring festive joy to approximately 40,000 Singareni families. He urged employees to continue working diligently to achieve the company’s production and performance targets. He also advised employees to use the bonus amount wisely for family needs or to save for government schemes.
