Delhi Family Benefit Scheme: When the primary breadwinner of a family suddenly leaves, a mountain of grief falls upon that family. In such difficult times, financial hardship deepens the wounds. Understanding this humanitarian sentiment, the Delhi government is running the “Delhi Family Benefit Scheme.” The primary objective of this scheme is to provide support to poor families in the capital who have lost their primary breadwinner.

The government provides a one-time financial assistance of ₹20,000 to the affected family to help them cope during this difficult time. In this article, we will explain in detail who can benefit from this scheme, the eligibility criteria, and the simplest way to apply.

Delhi Family Benefit Scheme

This initiative of the Delhi government acts as a shield for families in the capital who live below the poverty line (BPL). It is often seen that after the sudden death of the head of the household, the family is left without money, even for necessities.

Under this scheme, if the primary breadwinner of a household—whether male or female—passes away, the government provides a lump sum of ₹20,000 as immediate relief to the family. This assistance is provided only once. The best part is that this money is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account through the PFMS portal, eliminating any scope for corruption and ensuring the entire amount reaches the eligible family.
