DA Hike Announcement– Big update is here regarding Dearness Allowance or DA. The Maharashtra government has given a big gift to government employees and pensioners. The state government has decided to increase the dearness allowance of employees by two percent. This decision is a relief news for lakhs of families in the state. The state government has created an atmosphere of happiness among government employees by announcing this before Independence Day.

DA gift to employees

According to the Seventh Pay Commission, the two percent increase in dearness allowance implemented by the Central Government will also be applicable to the state government employees. The central government has implemented a two percent increase in the DA of central employees and pensioners from January 2025. According to this, the increase in DA of state employees will also be applicable.

How much will be the DA now?

Like central employees, according to the Seventh Pay Commission, the two percent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for state employees will increase the total DA from 53 percent to 55 percent. Officers, employees, other eligible officers and employees working in the state government as well as semi-government service and state pension holder officers and employees will get the benefit of this increased DA.

This dearness allowance will be applicable from January 2025. Along with the salary of the month of August, the difference of dearness allowance from January will be deposited in the account of the state government employees. That is, the state government employees will get 8 months’ arrears.

How many employees will get the benefit?

This decision of the Devendra Fadnavis government will put an annual burden of Rs 1,700 crore on the government treasury. However, this decision of the government will benefit about 12 lakh employees and retired employees. These 12 lakh full-time government employees include 5 lakh state servants, and 7 lakh people including teachers and non-teaching staff of Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti and aided schools.
