DA Hike 2025 – Good news for state govt employees. Before Diwali, the central government increased the dearness allowance and relief rates for central employees and pensioners by 3%, increasing the DA from 55% to 58% from July 2025. Following the central government, state governments have also begun announcing DA/DR increases. So far, the governments of Rajasthan, Bihar, Gujarat, Tripura, Odisha, and Arunachal Pradesh have increased DA, and now the governments of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are preparing to increase DA. It is reported that before Dhanteras, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh and the Pushkar Singh Dhami government in Uttarakhand may increase the DA of their employees by 3%. Bonuses may also be announced.
In May, the Pushkar Singh Dhami government increased the dearness allowance (DA)/dearness relief (DR) of employees and pensioners receiving benefits under the seventh pay scale by 2%, increasing the DA from 53% to 55%. This benefited 170,000 employees and 145,000 pensioners. This included employees/civil/family pensioners/employees working in local bodies, aided educational institutions, state universities, technical educational institutions, and UGC pay scales.
A 3% DA increase is now underway starting in July, bringing the DA to 58%. Additionally, employees working up to grade pay of 4800 are also slated to receive an ad hoc bonus of Rs 6,908. The Finance Department has sent the file to Chief Minister Dhami for approval. In addition to Uttarakhand, government employees and pensioners in Uttar Pradesh are also expected to receive a gift before Diwali. It is reported that the Yogi Adityanath government has also begun preparations to increase its employees’ DA by 3%, effective July 1, 2025. The proposal is expected to be presented in the cabinet meeting before Dhanteras, and orders will be issued after approval.
This will benefit 16 lakh employees and 12 lakh pensioners. Currently, state employees are getting the benefit of 55 percent DA, and after the 3 percent increase, it will become 58 percent. The Personnel and Finance Departments have started preparations for this. The proposal will soon be placed in the Yogi Cabinet meeting. The increase in dearness allowance for state employees in the fifth and sixth pay scales will be announced later.
