Good news for the farmers of the state. The application process has started under the ‘Bangla Shasya Bima’ or BSB scheme for the Rabi season. SBI General Insurance has been given the responsibility of crop insurance for this Rabi season 2025-26. This initiative is aimed at ensuring that farmers get financial protection in case of crop damage due to natural disasters or any other reason. Detailed information on how to fill the form and what documents are required is discussed below.
Crops covered by insurance
Several important crops have been brought under this insurance in the current Rabi season. Farmers can apply for insurance for the following crops:
- Potato
- Boro Rice
- Wheat, Mustard, Chickpea, Khesari and Lentils
- Rabi Maize and Summer Maize
- Mung Bean, Sesame, Almonds and Sugarcane

Correct Method of Filling the Form
It is very important to fill the Bengali Crop Insurance Application Form accurately. The step-by-step procedure is given below:
1. Personal Information of the Farmer
At the very beginning of the form, the farmer’s name should be written clearly (in Bengali or English). Then the names of the father, mother, husband or guardian should be entered in the specified boxes. The farmer’s age, gender, caste (Scheduled Caste/Tribe/OBC/General) and mobile number should be filled in correctly. Remember, it is mandatory to provide the voter card number and Aadhaar card number.
Address and ID related information
Address: The name of the farmer’s village (Mouza), Gram Panchayat, Block and District should be written correctly.
KCC: Tick the ‘Yes’ box if you have a Kisan Credit Card and ‘No’ box if you don’t.
Krishak Bandhu ID: This is mandatory. If you don’t know your ID, then go to the ‘Krishak Bandhu’ portal and search for the voter card number in the ‘Registered Farmers Information’ option to find out the ID and enter it in the form.

Land and Crop Details
Special care should be taken in the land information:
Enter the name of the crop for which you are insuring.
Mention the name of the block, gram panchayat and mouza in which the land is located.
Enter the land register and plot number of the land.
The amount of land proposed for insurance should be written in ‘acre’ units (e.g. 0.10 acres if it is 10 hundred).
Whether the land is owned or shared, and the date of planting the crop (probable or actual) should be entered.
Bank Account Details
It is better to provide the details of the bank account linked to the Aadhaar card. Enter the bank name, branch, account number and IFSC code accurately as per the passbook.
Required Documents
A Xerox copy of the following documents should be submitted along with the application form and each should be self-attested:
- Voter Card
- Aadhaar Card.
- First page of the bank passbook.
- Land register or recent return (for the year 2023-24).
Submission Rules
After filling the form completely, the last declaration should be read and signed by the witness and the farmer. Then submit it to the designated officer. Remember, this form cannot be submitted online, it is a completely offline process.
While submitting the form, fill in the ‘Receipt’ section below. The officials will sign and stamp it and return it to you, which should be kept carefully for future reference.
